Change of Clinics again

Posted by hardyberlin on 23rd May 2007

I only wanna give you a short notice, that Dad had to be moved to the Franciskus Clinic again. The doc’s at the Median clinic said, that his health problems are to serious, and that they can’t handle them cause they don’t have the equipment for that, they are only there for the rehabilitation of older people. Well, you can imagine how my mother is feeling right now.

The Big Reopening of “Die kleine Philharmonie”

Posted by hardyberlin on 21st May 2007

Last Saturday there was finally the big reopening of "Die kleine Philmarmonie", the real one at the Schaperstrasse, and it was a fantastic event. Nearly everyone who ever was a customer of the old one, and many new customers also came to see it. And they had lots of fun the whole night through. It was a real "BIG" reopening, with champagne and beer for free and lots of very tasty things to eat. If anyone left it hungry or thirsty, then it’s his/her own fault.

There was even a fancy cake with candles, brought by 3 female Students from the University of Arts, for the opening.  And Jurij, the owner(his wife Nina already went home, cause she had to open the "Cafe Piter" in the morning), had to blow the candles out. And as later, or should I say earlier, it got, as more people came to celebrate it. At about 02:00 in the morning even one brand of beer went out, so you can imagine how many people where partying there. And they all had a lot of fun and enjoyment the whole evening and night until the sun was rising. I left at 4:00 AM, but there still where many folks partying there. Like it was always during that time, when Wanda still owned it. Here is her heart and spirit, and here it will always be.
Some pictures you will find here: Die kleine Philharmonie- The Reopening

When they will have a new website, I will tell you also.

Update: The new site you can reach under: http://www.diekleinephilharmonie.eu/

The real one opened again!

Posted by hardyberlin on 16th May 2007

Since Monday "Die kleine Philharmonie" (the real one) at the Schaperstrasse 14 is open again, and I can only say, it’s great! The walls colored like good red wine, the interior a nice mixture of the old and the new, a wonderful buffet, very nice and friendly staff, piano and a old juke box, too. This is a place like Wanda would have like it. There you can feel her heart and spirit in every corner. It’s a place where you really can go to. I already told a few of my friends about it, and they all wanna come to there, cause they also say that this one will always be the real one.
The official opening will be on Saturday, the 19th of May. Come all and join it! I will see that I can make a few pictures at the party and publish them then.

High Fever

Posted by hardyberlin on 15th May 2007

When my Mom came back from visiting Dad on Sunday, she was really destroyed. He had high fever(39°Celsius), couldn’t hardly speak, and none of the nurses had recognized it. After she alerts the docs, two of them came quickly and put him back on an infusion and also on catheter. During the examination, which lasted an hour, she had to wait outside without knowing what will happen now. Well, thanks God, on Monday morning Dad called, he could speak better, and his temperature was down to 38,3°Celsius. You can imagine how happy she was.

Update: When I visited him on Monday afternoon, he still had 37,7°Celsius, could speak quite well, but still had the catheter.

Als ich ihn am Montagnachmittag besuchte hatte er noch 37,7°Celsius, konnte ziemlich gut sprechen, hatte aber immer noch den Katheter.

To many chiefs…..

Posted by hardyberlin on 8th May 2007

Via e-mail I’ve got an invitation to come to the pre-opening party of "Die kleine Philharmonie Ltd.". Well, I was a customer(once a week) of the old one since years, I even have known Wanda, the lady who owned the original one very good, and after the last owner got bankruptcy with it(even it was always crowded with guests), he had opened a new one at a different location now.

Well, first my opinion of what I saw: nice inside, many of the old decorations in it(even the juke box), okay, not the atmosphere like it was in the old one but maybe it will come with the time. Also many guests which I remembered. A big hello from Alf and Klaus, the owners of the old one, and, as I thought, owners of this one too. So Peter and I went to a table and took a seat, got our beers and started talking. After we got our third small beer, the waiter told us that three beers a person are free. We told him, that we didn’t have known that there is anything for free, but that we will pay every other beer. So far, so good.

But what happened than you wouldn’t believe: Ten minutes later he came back and told us, that there is no way, and that he got the order from his boss. We where totally surprised. Then Klaus and Alf, the owners, where only a few meters away from us, and I asked Alf if and why he did that. He didn’t know anything about it, he told me to get our beers at the bar, that there is no problem about it. I thanked him for it and the invitation, but told him, that we don’t want another one. And than he told my the truth about the ownership there. The bar does not only belong to him and his friend, no, it has more owners! And it seems to me, that everyone is doing what he just wants to do, without any coordination with the others.

Well, we didn’t like to be there after it, and when we left, I saw the third owner which I also know. So I asked him if that order came from him and why. Guess what this asshole(I’m sorry but I can’t find any other word for him), who even wasn’t born when I was at Wanda’s "Kleine Philharmonie" the first time, answered. He said because I wasn’t a permanent customer of the old bar we have to go. If he thinks that someone, who is always coming once a week for a couple of beers is not a permanent customer, than he has absolutely no knowledge about the business. And, why did I got an invitation than? Well, Peter also told him a few nice words and then we left and went to the "Bier Academy".

If Wanda could have seen that, she probably would turn around in her grave. I know that, cause Wanda and I have known us since 1960, when I still was a little kid. She was a permanent customer of my Mom’s perfume store. And when I was an adult, I often talked with her and listened to the nice music of her juke box. But this is not her "Die kleine Philharmonie", it’s at a different place and it didn’t has her heart and soul. But, at the place where the old one was, a new one will be reopened under the old name soon, owned by Jurij and his wife Nina. Maybe Wanda’s spirit will be there and help them.

Update: When I talked with Pierre, who also wanted to come but was to tired to do so, he had only one word for their behavior: disgusting! Neither him or his friends will go there.

Update about Dad

Posted by hardyberlin on 1st May 2007

Only a short update about Dad’s health. On Friday he was moved to the Median clinic, the same geriatric clinic where he also was last year. The catheter, which he had to carry until than, had also been removed. But he is still not able to get up alone, even if he just wants to sit in his bed, someone has to help him. How long it will take, until he will be at least a bit okay, that he can come home- we don’t know.
